Gianluca Buonanno.

After a man in Vaprio d’Adda, near Milan, shot and killed a burglar with his gun after a string of violations of his domicile, the debate on gun control restarted in Italy.

Gianluca Buonanno (Northern League), a MEP who is also the Mayor of Borgosesia, near Vercelli, announced during a show aired by Sky that his Administration will give subsidies to resident willing to buy guns. To put more emphasis on his argument, Mr Buonanno waved a gun until the anchorman told him to put the weapon away.

Matteo Salvini, the leader of Mr Buonanno’s party, admitted that the latter’s behavior had been “silly and wrong”.
