The reaction of the Holy See to the shocking coming out by the Rev. Krzysztof Charamsa is already known: he will be stripped of his assignments in the Vatican and its Universities.
The Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera interviewed Cardinal Camillo Ruini, the Vicar of Rome, a conservative and one of the most influential prelates in Italy.
Cardinal Ruini said that he “pities” the Rev. Charamsa, whose initiative will have no “substantial influence” over the incoming synod summoned by the Pope to discuss the approach of the Church towards family issues.
The Cardinal finally warned the Government that, if the Cirinnà Bill on civil partnerships between people of the same sex will be approved, there will be “protests”, recalling a significant rally held some months ago in Rome in support of the traditional family, with about 300,000 people in attendance.
