Italy is rejoicing at the feat of Flavia Pennetta and Roberta Vinci, who will play an all-Italian final at the US Open Tennis Championships.
Particularly astonishing is the achievement of Mrs Vinci, who managed to beat the formidable Serena Williams. Mrs Williams looked ready to win a Grand Slam, and indeed Mrs Vinci stated that she is sorry for the United States.
In its whole history, Italy won just five Grand Slam tournaments, even including male players.
Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will attend the final.
