“Horror monastery” under investigation in Italy

The Holy See and the Italian Authorities are thoughtfully scrutinizing the activities of a Franciscan monastery in Avellino whose nuns were allegedly starved and forced to swear their loyalty to the founder, Father Stefano Maria Manelli, in rituals involving the use of their own blood.

The State and canonical investigations started after the monastery was accused of fraud and embezzlement in connection with the opaque management of the huge donations it received.

Father Manelli should expect from the ecclesiastical Authority a very accurate investigation under the reign of Pope Francis, who recently established a special Court to judge Bishops accused of covering pedophile priests.
