“Tunis massacre terrorist” arrested in Milan

Yesterday the Italian police arrested in Milan Abdel Majid Touil, a Tunisian citizen suspected of taking part to the Tunis massacre on 18 March, when a commando opened fire against foreign tourists leaving on the ground also some Italian victims.

Mr Touil arrived in Italy illegally by boat across the Sicily Channel. If his role in the massacre was confirmed, this would give a huge boost to the rightist political parties advocating a hard line on immigration.

However the investigation, triggered by the Tunisian Authorities, has just begun. Terrorist are generally believed to travel by airplane using fake documents rather than on overcrowded boats, since the dangerous sea journey could kill them well before they can even approach their target or destination. Moreover, Mr Touil is reported to have an alibi for the day of the Tunis attack.
