Real-life “I know what you did last summer” in Italy

A class from a Padua high school is on a study trip to the Milan Expo. In the middle of the night, a 19-year-old boy falls to his death from a window at the fifth floor of the hotel. It happened between Saturday and Sunday, and the name of the victim is Domenico Maurantonio.

During study trips, high school students are more or less expected to party and drink hard, usually during the night in their hotel rooms while their teachers are sleeping. But that night something more happened, a laxative was probably put in Domenico’s beer: he woke up suddenly and tried to reach the bathroom, but somehow he felt from the window.

The investigators are trying to understand what exactly happened, but predictably the young students are unwilling to talk.
