According to a report by Deloitte, Ferrero is the most influential Italian company worldwide, ranking 77 in the international Top 100.
Founded in 1946, Ferrero is a virtuous example of the typical Italian “family capitalism”, being still owned by the Ferrero clan. Also its sector is very Italian: food and beverages.
According to your perspective, you can see the bright or darker side of the success of Ferrero. On one side, Italy still has companies which are able to dominate the world. On the other side, the country still looks able to give its best only in the framework of its old and traditional models.
That is nothing wrong with tradition, of course. However, an Italian company producing PCs or smartphones would not hurt either.
