After searching a flat in Cinisello Balsamo, near Milan, a patrol of the local Military Police found a 22-year-old girl who had been held captive for months by the owner, Claudio Rossetto, a 42-year-old man.
The neighbors had called the police after hearing loud screams coming from the flat. When the officers arrived, Mr Rossetto tried to convince them that he had just had an argument with his girlfriend. However, the officers checked his identity and discovered that he had just been freed after serving a term for kidnapping and torturing a young model from Eastern Europe. So they searched the flat, freed the girl whose identity was kept secret and arrested the man.
The victim, a beauty queen from Sweden, had been kidnapped by Mr Rossetto using the very same modus operandi he had followed in his previous crime. The girl, who had come to Milan trying to work as a model, had been contacted via Facebook by Mr Rossetto who claimed to be a model agent. Once she came to his flat she was beaten to unconsciousness, shaved, tied to a bed, tortured and raped for months.
Taking into account the serial modus operandi of Mr Rossetto, the police is now looking for other victims.
