Paola Pivi is a well-known Italian artist who works in the cinema industry. Her husband is Karma Lama, a US composer with Tibetan origins. That’s why in 2012 she got in touch with the Tibetan Children’s Village, an entity sponsored by the Tibetan Central Administration (the Tibetan Government in exile in India) tasked with taking care of the Tibetan exiled children.
After being asked by the Village – via mail – to “give back immediately” a child that the Village itself had given her in provisional custody, Mrs Pivi accused the Village of disposing of children outside any legal control or proceeding. Moreover, she collected the testimonies of some children grown in the Village complaining of mistreatment and harsh discipline, the Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera reports.
Mrs Pivi’s provisional guardianship was confirmed by an Indian Court.
