After the Costa Concordia disaster and the marines case, another very bad day for the Italian Merchant Navy.
The Italian ferry Norman Atlantic, while traveling from Greece to Ancona, was made ungovernable by a fire near the Corfu island this morning. The Italian and Greek Navy are struggling to save 300 people on board, but a passenger was already reported dead.
Also today a Turkish and a Belizean ship had a crash while maneuvering in the waters of the port of Ravenna. Despite the intervention of the Italian Coast Guard at least two crewmen died while four are missing.
