Saboteurs targeting Italian railways

A serie of sabotages against the Italian railway network climaxed today when an arson in the Santa Viola station disrupted the railway traffic in the area around Bologna.

According to the investigators the sabotages are not connected with the popular movement opposing high speed railway links for environmental reasons, but rather with the writers’ subculture.

Prime Minister Matteo Renzi indeed underlined that the word “terrorism” should not used to describe the sabotages.

A Criminal Court recently ruled that some members of the movement against high speed railway links found guilty of attacking and damaging a working site were not legally terrorists.
