Marines cases, Italy loses patience

After losing virtually all the diplomatic matches against India in the marines case, Italy lost its nerve after the refusal by the Indian Supreme Court to gran some benefits to marines Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone.

Mr Latorre is currently in Italy for medical reasons. The Indian Court ordered him to come back to India, but the Italian Minister of Defense Roberta Pinotti squarely stated that he won’t comply.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Paolo Gentiloni called back the Italian Ambassador to India, Daniele Mancini.

For the time being Mr Girone will remain in India where he was provisionally hired by the Italian Embassy.
