Four Tornado fighters of the Italian Air Force will be deployed in Kuwait to take part in the US-led operations against the Islamic State.
The Government admitted it after being questioned by the Five Stars Movement, precising that the planes will only fly reconnaissance missions. According to the Government, this was not a secret since the deployment had been disclosed during a joint hearing by the Foreign Affairs Committees of the two Chambers of the Parliament in October.
In August a prominent MP of the Five Stars Movement had suggested that negotiations should be opened with the Islamic State. The Iraqi Ambassador to Italy had caustically replied that he was ready to issue a visa for the MP so that he could go to Iraq and conduct the negotiations himself.
