South Korea’s Schettino gets harsh sentence in record time

He was the commander of a ferry which sank on 16 April in South Korea. He abandoned it leaving behind him 304 victims.

You could say that this man, Mr Lee Jun-Seok, behaved even more criminally than Mr Francesco Schettino, the commander of the infamous Costa Concordia cruise ship.

However, Mr Lee was already sentenced to a 36 years jail term by a South Korean Court, while Mr Schettino’s trial is still dragging on in the notoriously slow Italian Courts. In the meantime, Mr Schettino held a lecture in emergency situations management in an Italian University.
