Grillo praises “Mafia ethics”

During an event held yesterday in Palermo against the Government of Sicily Mr Beppe Grillo, the leader of the Five Stars Movement, told the crowd that “Mafia has been corrupted by finance” since “once it had ethics”. Therefore, Mafia should be “listed in the stock exchange” since “there is no difference between a wise guy and a businessman, it’s business for both of them: however wise guys are convicted while businessmen are not. In the criminal organizations today there are no more criminals, just businessmen, business people and judges”.

In Italy, judges direct criminal investigations, and some of them were assassinated by Mafia for that.

Mr Grillo’s extravagant statements are credited with stopping his Five Stars Movement from winning the last European elections.
