According to the Italian edition of the Huffington Post, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi could ask President Giorgio Napolitano to dissolve the Parliament and call new elections in March, together with local elections which are usually a boost for Mr Renzi’s Democratic Party.
Recent polls paid by Mr Berlusconi, according to the newspaper, certify a very high approval rating for Mr Renzi, who could catch the opportunity to wipe out the last pockets of resistance inside and outside its Party.
Many observed pointed out that Mr Renzi presented what in Italy is called an “electoral budget law”, with unprecedented cuts to taxes and other mechanisms to beef the salaries.
