In a joint session, the Justice Committee and the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies upheld the amendment by rightist MP Gregorio Fontana which, if confirmed, could allow the Italian police officers to receive and use tasers, after receiving the green light from the Ministry of Health.
Mr Riccardo Noury, the spokesperson of the Italian branch of Amnesty International, warned that tasers, in particular circumstances, can kill or produce “very serious effects”.
