Marines case, Italy ready to interrupt international military missions

While US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron ask the NATO Member States for a greater contribution to the mutual defense, the Italian Parliament officially ruled that the Italian participation to the anti-piracy missions Atalanta and Ocean Shield will stop on 31 December, unless the marines row with India is solved.

The decision was taken with a bipartisan vote by the Defense Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, which adopted a modified version of an amendment by Northern League MP Gianluca Pini while debating a Government Decree refinancing the missions.
