Marine’s stroke reignites Italy-India row

Yesterday Mr Massimiliano Latorre, one of the two Italian marines arrested in India, had to check in into a local hospital after a stoke whose seriousness is still unclear.

Mr Latorre’s troubles revived the public attention for the case in Italy, especially after the marine’s daughter insulted the whole country on the social networks for failing to repatriate her father.

Italian Minister of Defense Roberta Pinotti was immediately flown to India while incumbent Minister of Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini – who was just appointed as EU High Representative – confirmed that the Government is committed to solving the case.

Prime Minister Matteo Renzo hasn’t revealed who will be Mrs Mogherini’s successor yet.
