Never the Troika in Italy, says Renzi

This morning the Senate started debating the Boschi Bill on constitutional reforms, the mother of all Renzi’s battles.

In the meantime, however, negative economic data keep pouring in, triggering some speculation on the possibility that the feared and loathed Troika could arrive in Rome after taking havoc to Athens.

However, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi told the newspaper Il Corriere della Sera that no such possibility exist. “Never and ever,” Mr Renzi said.

Mr Renzi also denied that he is accumulating too much power in his hands, an accusation which is getting more and more frequent. Also Mr Berlusconi was labeled as the leader of a soft dictatorship, however.
