“Comrade G”: corruption investigation conjures Italian ghosts

The investigation which rocked the 2015 Milan Expo putting six high-ranking officers behind bars involves also Mr Primo Greganti.

Mr Greganti was once known as “Comrade G”. He was an officer of the Italian Communist Party. He is credited with single-handedly saving “the Party” by refusing to be a witness against his political chiefs.

If we have to believe Mr Berlusconi, this allowed the Italian Communist Party to become the only survivor to the fall of the First Italian Republic by morphing into the current Democratic Party. A Hollywood plot that anywhere else would be immediately discarded as fiction. Not in Italy.
