Italy adopts European anti-pedophilia certification

According to new norms entered into force in Italy pursuant to EU obligations, people working with minors will need to produce a certificate released by the judicial offices and stating that they were never convicted for sexual offences against minors.

The certification could have little practical effect in Italy, where technically you became a convicted only after your sentence got its final confirmation, which often is given only by the Supreme Court in Rome.

Moreover, the certification will be required only for new hires and never for volunteer workers, despite the latter being often involved in the care of minors.
