Not only the marines case, also the Indian rape emergency now involves Italy.
An Italian tourist from Milan was attacked in Kashid Beach, near Mumbai, on Sunday by two unidentified men who tried to rape her before being forced to escape by the intervention of a couple of Spanish bystanders.
The attack was reported to the local Consulate General and to the Police.
The number of rapes in India has steadily increased since 2001, sparking a public outcry. According to the UN, India is even less woman-friendly than Saudi Arabia.
It remains to see if the episode will be exploited by the anti-India camp created in Italy by the marines case.
