Polish Ministers says Italian football supporters are “bandits”

Last week the Polish Police arrested 180 Italian supporters of the Lazio football team for offences against public order. Of these, 22 are still in jail, triggering an intervention by Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta and Minister of Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Task had promised that he would “appeal to the Attorney General and to the Minister of Justice to take care of the matter in order to avoid unnecessary long proceedings”.

However, his Minister of Internal Affairs Batolomiej Sinkiewicz told a local TV that the Italian supporters still in jail are “bandits”.
