It’s official: Italian trains are dirty

Foreign tourists, used to the pristine Italian high-speed trains, could be surprised by the bad image of Italian State Railways.

Italian commuters, however, routinely complain of delays, lack of heating or air conditioning and dirty carriages.

Such commuters often organize themselves in Committees, and sometimes they even go to Court. The Bergamo-Milan Committee won a class action against the State Railways and was awarded 90,000 euros for the lack of hygiene in carriages, proven with photographs.
