The Italian Democratic Party, whose member Rosario Crocetta is the Governor of Sicily, asked him to resign for failing to obey to the party directives.
Mr Rosetta, however, refused to comply, and so did all of his Ministers but one.
They are now likely to be expelled by the Party, which could also push a motion of no confidence against Mr Crocetta’s Government. According to the regional Constitution, that would cause the dissolution of both the Government and the Parliament.
Another trouble for the Democratic Party, already rocked by the struggle between its old guard and rising star Matteo Renzi.
New elections could also be dangerous for Sicily, which is in deep financial troubles.
