Former leader of Italian party wants people to ‘take arms’

Mr Umberto Bossi, former leader of the Northern League, during a rally held near Brescia this weekend said: ‘Luckily in this valley there are still weapons, one day they will be needed’.

Such controversial statements by Mr Bossi are not new. Their current relevance, however, can be put in doubt. Mr Bossi is no more the leader of the party he founded, after being forced to resign due to a string of scandals. He is not in good terms with his successor, Governor of Lombardy Roberto Maroni.

Unsurprisingly, Mr Bossi’s words were not even widely criticized like it would have happened in his golden years.
