No more cars around Imperial Fora, says new Mayor of Rome

Newly-elected Mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino announced that the Imperial Fora area will become a pedestrian zone.

The new rule will enter in force on August 15.

Mr Marino was the candidate of the Democratic Party. He defeated the former Mayor Gianni Alemanno, supported by Berlusconi. He uses to travel in Rome on his bicycle.

The Eternal City has a widely known traffic problem.

    • Italian no traffic zones usually do not apply to public transport. Imperial Fora can be reached by subway anyway.
