Italian soldier ‘killed by 11-year-old boy’ in Afghanistan

Captain Giuseppe La Rosa, a 31-year-old officer of the Italian Army, was killed today in Farah, Afghanistan, after a hand grenade was thrown inside his APC.

Other three soldiers were injured.

According to a statement released by the Taliban forces, the hand grenade was thrown ‘by a brave and heroic 11-year-old Afghan boy’.

The Taliban statement is not yet confirmed, yet the employment of a child soldier could explain why the attacker was allowed by the soldiers to get so near to the APC.
