According to a report published today by the Economic Office of the main Italian trade union, it will take until 2026 before Italy gets back to the GNP it had before the crisis, and until 2076 before she gets the same employment rate.
The Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL) is the main Italian trade union, with 5,750,000 enlisted workers and pensioners.
It was founded as General Confederation of Labor in 1906, before being dissolved by the fascist Government.
During the Cold War, it was related to the Italian Communist Party.
It currently supports the Letta Government, but Secretary General Susanna Camusso said ‘concrete answers’ are needed.
