United States and Holy See sign MOU against money laundering

It is a sign of the advent of Pope Francis or was it scheduled already ?

Anyway, the United States and the Holy See have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to fight money laundering, announced Vatican spokesperson Father Federico Lombardi.

The Vatican and especially its IOR bank have long been accused of too much laxity and lack of transparency in handling financial transactions.

Could Italy press for a similar agreement ? Diplomatic pressure worked with the Republic of San Marino. But of course Vatican is a much harder match.
