Italy’s first colored Minister ‘target of racist rants’

The first colored Minister in Italian history, Mrs Cécile Kyenge, is being of a target of a campaign of racist insults on the Web according to newly-appointed Minister for Equal Right, Mrs Josefa Idem.

Mrs Idem ordered the National Counter-Discrimination Office of her Ministry to open an investigation on the case.

In 1993, the Mancino Law made a criminal offence in Italy ‘spreading in any way ideas based on racial superiority or hatred, or instigating to commit or commit discriminatory acts on racial, ethnic, national or religious grounds’ or ‘instigating to commit or commit violent or provocative acts on racial, ethnic, national or religious grounds’.
