Italy has first colored Minister

In the new Government headed by Mr Enrico Letta, there is the first colored minister of Italian history.

Her name is Cecile Kyenge, an Italian citizen born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She is a medic and an activist for immigrant rights.

As Minister of Integration, she is likely to press for a revision of the Italian citizenship law in order to allow second generation immigrants to become Italian.
