The ghost of Baroness Thatcher over Italy



While the United Kingdom is mourning Baroness Thatcher, she is somehow alive in Italy.

Politicians, entrepreneurs and economists, apparently everyone in Italy wants reforms, liberalizations, deregulation, a rethinking of the welfare state and of trade unionism: Thatcherism revisited, Mediterranean style.

The fact that Thatcherism dates back to the Eighties and didn’t spare Britain the ongoing crisis is almost never considered. Only Mrs Susanna Camusso, secretary general of the CGIL trade union, once raised the point.
